THE NEED TO REST

Why do we rest? To relax, reset, recharge, refresh, recover, review, reflect, and regain energy to continue. Rest is essential for these reasons and many more. Taking time to rest can mean changing from one activity to another (switching activities) shifting our disposition or location, or taking a break from a more tedious task to a simpler one. Regardless of the form it takes, regular rest is crucial for the well-being of our body, particularly the brain. Sometimes, the most meaningful moments of rest are the smallest and quietest ones.

Why am I saying this? I’ve just woken up and feel so refreshed to write this piece. Just two hours ago, I doubt I could have done what I’m doing now effectively because of fatigue. Please don’t push your body to the brink before giving it rest. Always manage the stress of each day. The body that you fail to rest will find its own way to rest, and that might not be in the way you want. No one is designed to work continuously without pause. Take break before you break down.

Allow me to end with a quote by Etty Hillesum, which highlights the profound importance of moments of rest and stillness in our lives. She said, " *Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two breaths.* "

This quote suggests that, amidst our busy and often chaotic lives, we tend to overlook the significance of pausing—even for a brief moment—to reset and recharge. Don’t overwork your body. *Even God Almighty rested from all His works* (Genesis 2:2), *and He commanded rest for us.* Always recognize the importance of taking a well-deserved break to relax both your mind and body.

*Stay REFRESHED!!!*
